The vertical discharge works best for the sand filter, while the horizontal discharge port is recommended using for a cartridge or De filter. LOW MAINTENANCE – The pump features a 2-piece strainer cover with a clear viewport, large hair, and lint basket. The transparent lid lets you easily check the basket without needing to open it. Additionally, the strainer basket that can hold considerably more debris which mean you won’t have to empty it nearly as often.
