The wide array of ingredients also promotes natural burrowing and nest building behaviors for animals who make their home on the forest floor- tarantulas, scorpions, and centipedes. This substrate encourages natural foraging, burrowing, and other instinctual activities that enrich their lives and give them the options to do what they would do in nature. Our substrate will stay spongy and aerated,even in humid environments. Our hand-blended Forest Floor Substrate includes 17 all-natural ingredients! This is our own recipe, made with the experience of 15 years of keeping reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates. It includes multiple types of moss, hardwoods, leaves, organic material, minerals, calcium, and charcoal. Making it an all-in-one solution that provides both a comfortable substrate for your tank inhabitants and a constant source of nourishment. This substrate is versatile; It can be used as a traditional substrate on the bottom of your enclosure, placed down and replaced when it becomes soiled. Place a couple inches in an isopod bin as their bedding and their diet, replacing when your detritivore has eaten it. The bedding will provide their food, but we still recommend that you supplement with our Springtail & Isopod Chow. This substrate is particularly well-suited for habitats where higher humidity is desired and can be used wet or dry. However, if you’re aiming for a humid BioActive enclosure, our Rainforest substrate might be the ideal choice.
