TORUS bowls are available in a MINI 1-Liter (1/4 gallon) for cats and small dogs, and MAXI 2-Liter (1/2 gallon) model for dogs and multi-pet homes. They are portable with water inside, do not require batteries.

The Science Behind Our TORUS PET Products

Design and Materials of TORUS PET Products

All TORUS PET products are designed in clean and green New Zealand.

The materials that we use to make TORUS bowls are quality food grade materials. PET Polyproplene – EP332K. Moplen EP332K resin meets the FDA requirements in the Code of Federal Regulations in 21 CFR 177.1520 for food contact and is recyclable. All machinery lubricant MEDALLION FM GREASE NLGI 0 is NSF certified.

Antimicrobial Technology in TORUS Bowls

All Torus bowls are now manufactured with IONPURE antimicrobial technology sourced from certified producers.

With the presence of moisture, IONPURE releases a few Ag ions gradually. The Ag ion’s have an ability to strongly bind to cellular enzymes of microbes and inhibit enzyme activity of cell wall, membrane, and nucleic acids. As microbes charged with minus on their surface, Ag ions that have plus are drawn toward microbes, and disturb their electric balance. so that microbes burst their cell walls and are extinguished.

As Ag ions are taken into microbes, they react and bond to the cellular enzyme microbes. This inhibits enzyme activity and multiplication of microbes, thus extinguishing the microbes.

The Activated Carbon in TORUS PET Filters

Torus Pet’s activated carbon filters contain small pieces of carbon that are very, very porous. That means that there are millions of tiny holes in each grain. So just a few grams of activated carbon can have the surface area of a sports field! This huge surface area enables active carbon to be very effective in adsorbing contaminants and other substances, and by absorbing them, it means that these contaminants are no longer in the water.

When the water flows through either our Standard or Advanced active carbon filters, the chemicals are absorbed by the carbon resulting in purer water flowing in to the pets drinking well.

The most effective absorption is with a slower water flow with low pressure and cold water. That’s why the Torus bowls pass the water in to the drinking well slowly and in lower volumes – enough for your pet to drink, but not gulp, and to allow the activated carbon to be effective.

Antimicrobial in TORUS Advanced Filters

TORUS PET antimicrobial ingredients are blended with Biosafe that contains FDA Compliant and NSF Certified antimicrobial technology that ensures a higher level of filtration.

The COC-AL60 granular activated carbon used is manufactured from select grades and is commonly used for a variety of food grade applications. COC-AL60 will effectively remove chlorine, chloramines, lead, TCE, PCE, THMs 1,2,3-Trichloropropane, phenols, pesticides, detergents, taste and odor, and more.

Biosafe protects products from micro-organism colonization by physically rupturing the microbe’s cell membrane and destroying the microbes on contact and does not promote microbial resistance through adaption and mutation. The antimicrobial binds to a wide range of surfaces to render long-lasting protection, synergistically enhancing the effectiveness of disinfection and sanitization. The ingredients of the TORUS Advanced Filters are made in the USA and are FDA Compliant and NSF Certified.
